Niykee who's had many a hectic few years which included getting picked by Snoop to sing with him at the YouTube Brandcast May 2013 Niykee maintains a consistent songwriting schedule despite all this. The songwriting process is an inspiration to hopeful producers. Niykee constantly listens to beats and finds many songs that inspire her. "I'll be able to discern within the first 5 minutes if this is a quality beat. When I've got a tune in my mind, I will start writing right away." The words come to me while I'm sitting on my porch, playing my guitar. Most of the time, it's under thirty minutes. Niykee says that when she develops as a lyricist, the painful memories of her youth serve as source of inspiration. She says that even when she's not composing about events that are actually happening every ache due to her childhood and the grief over the loss of her daughter find its way into the music. This shapes my music and adds a greater sense of meaning that I believe is crucial. I'd like to be able to hear my music in the next 20 years and still feel proud about what I have to say.
